UIBE was founded in 1951 as the Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. In 1960 it was designated as a "key university" by the government for its outstanding programs. In May 1997 UIBE was put on the list of "Project 211" universities, a governmental program aimed at turning about 100 Chinese universities into exceptionally high quality academic institutions in the new century. In 2000, UIBE was merged with the China Institute of Finance and consequently reinforced its status as one of the leading academic institutions specializing in the fields of economics, business, insurance, management, finance, law, and international trade.

In December 1989, UIBE became the first university in China to have a Board of Trustees composed of members from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Bank of China, People's Insurance Company of China, Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, and several others. Li Lanqing, the former Vice-Premier of the State Council, took the chair for its first session, and Wu Yi, former Vice-Premier of the State Council, chaired the Board for its second session.

One of the key features of the courses offered is that they take place in an international setting. You can study international business topics in an insulated environment at home without the same significance or impact. Studying such topics abroad is ideal, but you must be flexible.
In China you will be in a different environment filled with contradictory attitudes and possibly some communication barriers, so treasure your time to communicate with Chinese people.

Información turística Pekín

“China is a civilization pretending to be a nation”

 Michael Ledeen
(American specialist on foreign policy, 1941- )
